Minecraft is fun and all, but it can get boring digging holes, mining coal and chopping wood to build the hundredth house on the hundredth world. All good things get boring after a while and Minecraft is no exception to this, but there are exceptional ways to bring life and fun back to your Minecraft gameplay. One such way, the OpenComputers mod, allows you to craft and program computers in your Minecraft world so they will execute LUA programs. This opens up a whole realm of new possibilities and ways for you, the player, to interact with your game and other players.
But that’s not all, not nearly. The OpenComputers mod also adds little robots which automate a number of mundane tasks for you. These are essentially mini-computers that can break and place blocks, move around, use items and interact with the world, much like you can. These can be made to dig out whole mines for you, or chop up a whole forest worth of wood, with just a few lines of code. This is not a mod for those with little technical knowledge, as you’ll need to understand some programming to make it work. Because of this, it isn’t as accessible as some other mods.
However, it is this difficulty in use which makes the OpenComputer mod so unique. The rewards you get for figuring out how to work the mod are much more time, resources being gathered even while you’re not at your computer, and more. Plus, those computers can store all kinds of data if you plug a floppy disk or HDD into them. They also need memory to execute the LUA programs and the more you add to your computer, the faster it will work or the more complicated the programs it can execute. This Minecraft mod just gives you more, and that’s never a bad thing, is it?
